The war in East Africa

 May 5, 1942.Operation "Battleship" - strategic operation of the United Kingdom against occupied  Madagascar, who was occupied by Vichy France. French garrison on Madagascar, consisting of 8,000 mostly black soldiers of the French army, several auxiliary ships and 27 aircraft - put up fierce resistance. The invasion force - about 15,000 soldiers, the battleship "Ramillis" two aircraft carriers, two heavy cruisers, a destroyer and a corvette, 21auxiliary vessels and 83 aircrafts. The operation lasted from May 5 to November 6, 1942.
